Definatly run those 80watt leds on their own wiring and use the reverse light wiring to trigger the relay for them. I like my LEDs I installed Forgot the brand they were some randos off of Amazon. They work and provide a little more light than the stock incandescent bulbs and have the advantage of lower power draw. On my old XJs I always ran a set of driving type lights on the back and triggered their relay off of the reverse lights. Probably going to do that with my 95 as well but attach them to the hitch instead of the bumper.
I bought really cheap LED's for my trailer china/ebay. I ended up going back to standard incandescent. One crowning issue was the washboard on my road made the bulbs fall apart!
I put some 3156 led in my 98. Cheap ones off amazon. Supposedly 1200 lumens. Way brighter than stock. Can’t really get any brighter because they are limited by the design of the tail light. They’re the type with the projector lense at the end. They would probably be twice as bright if that portion of the taillight was clear and undiffused. And there’s no way those bulbs are 80 Watts actual. Leds are 80-100 lumens per watt.
Oh, come on waynerd!!
Don't muddy the waters in this thread with actual experience!!! LOL.
I have done the reverse lamp LEDs in 4 Jeeps and 1 Alfa Romeo with excellent results. I also did the exterior lamps and instrument lamps on all of them, along with footwell and dome lamps
.
Looking at an Amazon listing for the Grandview LEDs, the say 80W but not equivalent, however the power usage states 0.6A @ 12v so 7W approx. I want to get a set for mine but first I need to get them to work more reliably first.

I've done all of the interior with green LEDs on my XJ with exception of the dash and HVAC lights. What bulb type did you use? Are they T10 like the shifter bezels?
Ive been running the pods direct off the wiring for the reverse lights..no relay
The pods dont draw that much.. The longest Ive had my Jeep in reverse was half hour.
That was to test and see how hot the wires got going to the pods..
Well the wires didn't get hot at all so I left it that way.. Been this way for 6 years no issues.

Damn it Duma!!! Now you're doing just like waynerd!!! Using actual experience and testing. When will this quit? I want a bunch of guessing and conjecture in these threads. At least make something up, would ya?

When I put the bulbs in, For some deal the Jeep seems to run smoother. lol hows that..
I did get relays when I first picked up the pods.. But it seemed unnecessary once I tested the wires for excessive heat and there was none.
The LED pods dont need much power to run nice and bright. Well the ones I used.. Im not sure everyone can get away with no relay.
It will depend on amp and volts the pods/extra lights draw.

I've had a couple sets of led reverse lights in the 99 Cherokee, drowned one led because the tail light was cracked and let water in, smashed another on a rock, and got one set that just didn't do well. Overall most LEDs I've used have been better than the incandescents I replaced. I put LED tag lights, reverse lights, and cluster lights in the Comanche, and the front turn signals and parking lights are on their way. I'll probably leave the headlights halogen because LEDs just don't look right in my Comanche to me. Anywho threw in the truck lite vs stock sealed beam too. Biggest difference with the led tail lights on the Comanche is the color and the sharp on off vs the more gradual incandescent bulb.
