So i have always wondered what is up with these seats, to my knowledge cherokee sports never came with leather seats stock. Both the front and back seats are in the same material. Does anyone have an idea what they could be from?
What year is your XJ? The stitched graphic and console looks like it is from a 97+. I think leather may have been an option for that trim level unlike earlier years. But, I would think even back then if you wanted leather in a 96- Sport they would have done it special order if you wanted to spend the money.

It is a 2001, i thought they were xj seats but i did a little looking and i didnt find a single picture of them. It is the only xj sport ive seen with leather from that year.

Hello, I have a 98 Cherokee Sport with the Up Country package, but I would like to know if Jeep accepted special orders at that time because my seats have high-quality leather covers. Since they are custom-made, they blend well with the plastics of the seat, and in the rear seats, they also share the carpet from the trunk with the back of the seat. The official dealership purchase receipt lists leather seats as an extra. But what's strange is that the pattern is different from that of a Limited, and the leather is smooth and shiny. What could this be? A very special order to Jeep?"
You can do a remarkable job repairing leather if you learn how
Usually the main issue is DS lower cushion.
In some cases this should be carefully taken apart, and any damaged parts repaired or swapped
The padding can be "repaired" or replaced used, or cut new foam
A careful assessment needs to be done to the covering
As it takes so much wear, small tears can be easily repaired, but if its trashed, a new one can be made, either by an upholsterer. Or HAND STICHED by YOU
Its virtually impossible to find a good used drivers seat

Its hot over here (and sandy), natural enemies of leather. Cloth is the most practical..with a seat cover
I also laugh at power seat aficionado's, eventually they WILL break down, strip gears etc
Just put in a manual, I teased a dude on the Oz forum, but being a master tech, and very determined, he pressed on till it was all fixed...they weigh more too

In addition, the seat base/foam gets all squashed, especially if the owner is a BFB..I mean large gent ..guessingyou are not a 100lb female ?
