Default Least amount of work to change coils

Hello. How is everyone? Since my XJs getting older, saggier, creakier and bouncier I am going to swap out the front coils and rear leafs for some a bit fresher. I was just reading the Haynes manual and they make it seem like they want you to remove a LOT more stuff to change the front coils than it seems like you need to. They don't mention using a coil spring compressor in the process so I'm thinking that is why they want you to remove so much and allow the axle to drop and the spring to open etc. If I use coil spring compressors what is the least you guys think I'll need to remove to pull off the swap? Thanks

For the front, remove the shocks and sway bar. with the extra flex you can easily pull them out with a spring compressor. For the rear, pull the shackle bolts, pull the shocks, lower the axle, remove the u-bolts and front bolt on the leaf springs and then pull the springs out. Put in the new leaf springs and u-bolts, raise the axle, bolt the leaf and shackle together again and put the front bolt in. Nice and easy.

unbolt your bottom bolts for your shocks, Jack it up by the frame, take the tires off, unbolt the bottom of your coils springs, and jack one side of your axle up as high as it will go, use your comperessors to hold the spring compressed, then let that side drop and jack up the other side and the springs should just come out with little to no struggle.

DO NOT use an air compressor to tighten up your new springs. I was getting annoyed and did that, then , after fully compressed, it popped off and shot the spring in my knee. Does not feel good.

Also, use Jack stands and be safe. There may be some extra work with bump stops, but mine is an 88, but this is what I did.

For the front on mine I took out the shocks and sway bar links then put a jack under the hub assembly and maxed out the flex and the coils just popped right out.

Take off shocks and sway bar, drive it into a ditch flex the crap out of it coils fall out. I've done this with 6.5 lifts and stock control arms. You may need a crow bar to help it back in alittle, don't be scared of it shotting out at u your not gonna compress it enough for it to hurt u I the coil pops back out.

I take the shock and the swaybar loose then put a bottle jack between the lower control arm and the unibody and just ease the bottle jack up until I can get the spring out very easy you should be able to do it in under 45min
