When I start my xj, I crank it once, and it doesn't start. On the second crank, it's like a mustang gt starting up (it goes like crank, crank, vroom.) if only it did that on the first crank. It's kinda embarrassing when I'm with people, and I go to start it, and the first try, it doesn't start, but it starts right away on the next turn of the key.
Any ideas? I just did a time up as well, and it runs great, so it's not because its in bad shape.
Thank you

Probably the check valve allowing fuel to drain back out of the rail. Try turning the key to ON, wait 5 seconds, then turn it off again. (You'll hear the fuel pump run)
Repeat.
Repeat.
Then try starting.
If that fixes it, it's the check valve.

Ok, I'll have to try it today. I'm kinda glad it might not be my injectors. Also, there is a "hissing" sound from around my p/s and idler pulley. And when I hold my ear to the intake manifold near injector #1 I hear a loud sound. Some injectors do it some dont. Any ideas for that as well?
