Leaking Tranny coolant lines!!
I have leaking transmission coolant lines, and i need them replaces. My mechanic told be to buy new ones are $100, but that there are cheaper alternatives such as going to a junkyard and taing a set off one of those or a parting out jeep. I have a 98 xj sport. Does anyone know a good, not too expensive alternative that will fix the problem?

I'm doing mine this week too. We tried repairing the leak and it still leaked. I wish I would have put new lines on to begin with. Don't let your mechanic hit you too hard on labor, its a fairly easy fix.

Cut the lines just before the disconnect then replace it with rubber trans hose. Replacing the lines is only temporary. The disconnects will most likely leak again in a few years.

I find they leak at the crimp caps holding the rubber hoses to the hard lines, not the disconnects.
Cut the hard line before the crimp cap and replace using 5/8 tranny oil cooler line. MAKE SURE it's tranny cooler hose tho.

Just to relay my story, just make doubly sure which one it is, crimp or disconnect. Mine looked like the crimps too as that was directly over the leak marks on the concrete and I could see the drip coming from them, but on further inspection it was the disconnects higher up that was leaking down the tube and gathering at the crimp before forming the drip.

Well I haven't looked at it too in depth but there is what looks like a little rubber connector piece where the leak is, close to the fanbelt. And yea he is a friend of ours he wouldn't charge us for labor. He said probably an easy fix though.
