Leaking Antifreeze
I have a 96 Cherokee Classic 4x4 w 239,000 today I noticed its leaking antifreeze. Not sure from where, but for the last few months its been running hot and I've had to keep the heat on at all times. This is the first time it has leaked any fluid though I've been checking it daily.
I bought a thermostat the other day but now I'm not sure if I should change that if thats not the actual problem I'm having.
Help!

If you have never replaced your water pump. It's probably it. I'm going through the same experience. Which side of the vehicle is it leaking from?
If you get a new water pump. Call these guys and talk to Benny.

He is a no B.S kinda fella and they do make the best water pump. And since your at it. Replace the entire cooling system. Assuming funds are available. I usually get 200K miles outa my cooling systems on a XJ (I've had 3).
I got a water pump, thermostat, and thermostat housing, and Silicon hoses for $220. Now it's time to get a CSF 3 Row radiator and your pretty much set.
Oh and if you turn off your jeep and you hear this grinding sound after you've turned off your jeep. That's the water pump. Well, at least from my experience.

Leaks are difficult for us to help you with.
You need to perform a comprehensive search of all cooling system components. It can help if you have the vehicle on a hoist, or at least on ramps. Check when engine is warm so that the cooling system is pressurized.
Pay special attention to the "weep hole" at the bottom of the water pump, the seams on the radiator, and all hose connections.
Find this leak. Small leaks can turn into huge leaks in a hurry, and then you may have an overheat and or a tow to deal with.

Ok looked it over today it's the original pump and hoses, there is a leak in the main hose from the water pump and the water pump is also leaking.
I'm about to go change it all out now seems like an easy job, hopefully...
Thanks for the help.

Water pumps are a breeze. Thermostats are even easier. Take your main upperhose off your motor and put your new gasket and thremostat one, take off your belt and unbolt your water pump RTV to make a gasket and bolt the new pump on put your belt back on and your good to go. Should take no more then 45 mins.
