yeah - the leafs on my 98xj are high up on my todo list... theyre almost flat, and make all sorts of interesting noises when im driving. They squeak, squeal, groan and rattle.. especially when pulling away or cornering.

squeal is u-joint, squeak is springs.. didnt know that - I do have a u-joint needing replaced.. guess that explains some of the back end noise ive been getting!.

I left out the plastic end pads, when I did my bastard pack.
Right now they sound like an old motel bed in the honeymoon suite.
I'm looking for some spray on graphite, but if that doesn't work I will have to drill the leaf ends & get new pads.
Squeak while driving on smooth pavement would be U-joints, squeaking while bouncing over bumps would be the springs or their bushings.

After my bastard pack mine squeaked a bit so I ptryed them apart a little bit, sprayed em down with wd40 and then I cut some narrow pieces of plastic from a used milk jug and slid in between the leaf ends and trimmed them up.Worked great, quite as a mouse now

Turns out, my tail pipe was clamped to the muffler and it wasn't tight enough. New magnaflow with some fresh clamps and I'm no longer going "squeekity, squeekity, squeekity, squeekity!" every time I get moving.
