My 2001 XJ has no heat. Blower is fine, just no change in temperature with the twist of the heat dial.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
John

Does your temperature gauge run at about 210 degress? If so then your heater core is probably plugged, Had the same problem, searched the topic here and there is a video on back flushing core with air. It worked for me.

Yes, if the engine is operating in the 200-210 range, you either have a clogged heater core or you have trouble with the HVAC system routing heated air properly into the cab......

Thanks for the replies. Engine temp runs right around 210, air does blow from any vent selected.
Your comments and my reality makes it sount to me like the heater core is plugged. I will search that as suggested and hope flushing it is something I can do rather than take it to a shop.
Thanks,
John

Did not get to flushing today, but confirmed the varying temp of the inlet and outlet heater hoses and watched enough videos to understand the flushing operation. I am going to try with water first and see what happens. My air compressor is down at the moment.
Thanks for all your help.

Yes to the water flush.. but i'd be very carefull using air pressure to blow it out.. you don't want to pop it ;-)

Hey I just replaced the speed sector switch and blower motor in my 96 cherokee sport and it works now but it doesn't blow out the vents very good. I can feel it but even on hi its not coming out as hard as I would expect it to. I also noticed that my engine temp stays around the 210 mark, so maybe the heater Core is clogged. Do you think the heat core being clogged could keep it from blowing out the vents the way it should? Also I checked the blower motor resistor and it wasn't all corroded like in some of the pics I've seen. It was a little bit rusty but not a whole lot. Do you think I should get a new resistor?

If it takes a long time to reach operating temp, or doesn't even at all you might have a thermostat that's stuck open so the engine has a hard time heating up. better than one that's stuck closed though!
