Ok well my 89 Jeep 4.0 has been running great and started to loose oil pressure and rear main seal leak. Well this past weekend I went and decided to replace all the seals and Oil Pump. Well I got everything back together and primed the oil pump and started it. Everything ran great no leaks no knocks great oil pressure. I drove it up the road and runs amazing.
Well same day I started heading to work and all the sudden my Oil Pressure dropped and started knocking pretty loud
. Well after work I started it and didn't know but once it got operating temperature it started knock again. I don't know what I should do with it now. Let me here your opinions.
Thanks

Did you prime the engine as well as the pump? If so, did you remove the distributor and drive the oil pump with an adaptor and electric drill motor until you saw oil coming to the rockers?

What did the oil pressure drop to?
Thanks

If one is not careful, the tube can be knocked loose when the oil pan is installed.
I suggest you remove the oil pan and inspect the oil pump pick up tube to pump attachment. If it is loose, remove the oil pump and reattach the tube using Loctite 640. If it is still secure then checking of each connecting rod lower bearing and crank journals may be in order.
Edit: Does the knock sound like one cylinder or multiple cylinders? You can try to isolate which cylinder(s) the knock comes from by disconnecting the fuel injector connectors one at a time and see if the knocking goes away or diminishes. Some folks pull spark plug wires one at a time to achieve the same result. If it's only one (or two) cylinders that's the connecting rod(s) that should be examined. If pulling injector connectors or spark plug cables makes no difference in the knocking, see if the knocking comes from the front of the engine by using a stethoscope or broom stick to your ear. If the knocking sounds like t's coming from the front of the engine the camshaft may be walking.
If/when you pull the oil pan, look at the cam bearing bores to see if cam bearing material is extruding from the journal bosses.

Well I think I narrowed it down today me and my boss man noticed it coming from lifters. So when I get another vehicle I can either sell it for cheap or tear head off and buy a new head for 300.
