keyless entry
So I bought my 99 jeep cherokee sport from a small independent dealership. They only had one key. The key is a standard car key. My jeep has power door locks. So before I go out and buy a keyless entry system i was wondwring if this jeep has keyless entry and the last owner just bought a cheap key instead of getting a new fob. Was keyless entry standard on Jeep Cherokee Sports?
It probably has keyless entry. Mine did but I didn't get the fobs when I purchased mine either. I requested the factory build sheet from Jeep customer service and they emailed it to me within a day. It shows everything your Jeep was equipped with from the factory. If you have it just buy some fobs online and get them programmed at the dealer.

I found that it was cheaper to just install a viper keyless system, then replace the fobs, and have the dealer program them.
I think it was on ebay (might have been amazon) for around $40 new.

I just went through this whole thing. It is not worth going to the dealership and paying for "an attempt at" programming. It failed. I ripped it out and replaced it with the viper unit. I had a thread on this that had all the color codes for the wiring in it, it was very easy.

Go there and on the left under 'your vehicle' click on equipment listing and type in your VIN. Instant build sheet.

All this talk about how expensive it is to use the factory system is not accurate in my opinion. I spent $40 on two key fobs on ebay and called my dealer about programing them. They quoted me $20 but when I arrived they did it for free. I think it's worth $40-$60 to have my factory system working and I didn't have to install or modify anything.
