Default Key Trick with a Twist?

So I was trying to get my codes today, and I found out that if you turn the key on, hold down the odometer reset button, and turn the key off, you get a number...

Mine said 2.5. What in the world does this mean?

I know it is OBDII, but the 2.5 is displayed on the digital screen after I turn the key off. It stays on for around 2 or 3 seconds then goes off...

I was thinking it was like a version of the cluster, or a model number...

As far as the gas milage, I am getting 10 mpg, but thats because I have a short drive to school in the hills of PA.

The odometer self test will NOT work on your 2000. All you get is the cluster self-test.

It may LOOK like it's trying to read codes, but it won't. The odometer trick went away mid-1997.

For yours, you'll need either a code reader or a scan tool.

You caught me. It's actually the jeep repair cost multiplier. Multiply your estimate by 2.5.

If I turn the key 3 times, push the reset button, pat my back 2 times, run in a circle, and turn the engine on, my flux capacitor kicks on and I gain 40hp at the crank. I also get an extra 5hp over stock from stickers.

This also works when figuring out the cost of your "build"..take what you plan to spend..then multiple by 2.5...at that point you may be close enough to pass smog or state inspection....then you can build..but only after another "2.5"

You're lucky. I just tried it and my floorpans disappeared.
