Default Key-in-Ignition Reminder

Is there an easy way to disconnect the alarm that goes off when you put the key in the ignition when the door is open. Starting to really annoy.
The manual calls it Key-in-Ignition-Reminder.

These XJ,s are brilliant. Had this a couple of weeks , its a 2000 Classic 4.0l Auto. 68k 2 owners ,no rust which is unusual for the UK. Paid £1350. (approx $2100). They are really cheap over here, probably because of the fuel consumption and competition from Japan and Land Rover.
I know we are always going on about how much we pay for petrol (gas to you) but I will remind you again to make you feel a bit better about things.
We pay approx £1.35/litre 3.8l/US gal = £5.13/US gal = $8/US/gal!
Diesel is even more than that and all our trucks, vans, pickups are diesel.
What do you pay by the way?

Put the key in the ignition and stick your head under the dash. If I'm not mistaken there's a black cylinder on the dash. That's the alarm. You should be able to pull it out and it be gone.

Gas is around $3.40/gallon right now. Diesel is $3.80

After reading a bit the 2000 model is different from what I've dealt with. Seems the key in ignition reminder is made in with the headlight switch(?) maybe. I'm not sure. I couldn't find a straight answer.

Maybe my ignition switch is worn, but all I have to do is pull the key out a 1/4" or so and the alarm stops...worth a try.
