Just got a new muffler... Need some help!
Well I went and got a new muffler but on my 97 jeep cherokee.I was going to go with the flowmaster 50, cause I was checking on youtube and that is the one I thought would sound the best. We I get there the guy at the shop, tell me I should go with borla pro XS muffler. That is what he is running on his cherokee. So I go with the muffler and I get it. It is quiet.. I did not want loud but it sounds the same! The only thing I can tell is more rumble and more deeper tone which I like. Now the think I need help on is how to get it louder?? I left the stock tail pipe on there should I change it out to a 2.50 tail pipe or cut off the cat?? Please Help

It seems it's illegal to tamper with the catalytic converter, and it's a federal law, so it won't vary from state to state. I was reading a comment on some other forum that said the cat will produce ammonia, is that true? That doesn't make sense to me, but I really don't know how the catalytic converter works.

Thats why you get a high flow cat off ebay, They flow and sound the same as a straight pipe and are legal
Cause alot of states have visual inspection as part of state inspection, and if your exhaust is loud and a cop looks under your rig they can bust you. Is actually illegal for exhaust shop to do your exhaust without a cat unless you say its offroad only

DONT CUT OFF THE CAT. it u cut it out it will run like crap anything after 1995 has an o2 sensor behind the cat and one in front of it. and if those sensors dont get different readings u will lose all kinds of low end torque and fuel economy. in its 95 or older its fine but urs is 2 new 2 do that.

if you cut off the tail pipe and just stick a turndown tip on the end of the muffler it will be louder.
P.S. dont talk about the catylytic conv. stuff on here you could get suspended. unless its about running perf. ones and such
