Friend of mine bought one from him and said it was perfect so i took his word for it and ordered one up. $84 shipped, not too shabby.

Thought i'd spread the word. I know he has more available and will have this auction back up in a little bit. If there's a demand, i'll post installation pictures of it.

T-case skid: check
Oil pan skid: check
Front end skid: searching
gas tank skid: searching

one more and i'll have a hummer-undercarriage.

OK i got 2 of 4 skids now. I still need the steering skid and gas tank jacket.

What's a good and cheap gas tank skid? I've seen tomkin's and it seems to be the cheapest one out there at $185-ish. Are there any others?

Can you still buy the front skid plate? I know it discontinued but my yards don't have any I almost won one on ebay last night but lost by 1 little dollar.

The factory skids are still available in the J/Ys and I think Rusty's makes a front skid that looks pretty decent but has his name laser cut into it. Pretty cheap if my memory serves me correctly. I might buy his skids but never any of his suspension components.
I have a factory 231 skid which is going to be modded to fit with my 242. Gas skid is either homemade or Skid Row design bought from a wrecking yard as well.
Good Luck finding what ever you want or need.

I have Rustys tc skid and gastank skid on my ZJ. Tc skid fit perfect but had to modify gastank skid for the exhaust pipe and had to modify hitch to fit but neither modifcation was a big deal. Friend of mine put a Skid Row gastank skid on his XJ and had to do about the same modifications.

Yeah mine was for a post '97 XJ so I had to redrill the mounting holes but as you said no biggie!

Thanks for the suggestions. I thought about rusty's until i saw his wonderful name on the front of it and then kinda reconsidered. I could just take some thin sheetmetal and cover the name and re-paint it.

How well does the factory gas skid hold up?

The OEM gas tank skid is pretty solid for the money--either from the JY or they do show up on the for sale forums from time to time. I wouldn't bother w/the steering skid, expecially if you're lifted at all. I would, however, make some rock rails a priority if you don't already have some. Also, the LCA mini skids are nice to have as well.

hmmm.. Is that Mike's old avatar?

Yes, sliders are my top priority. Next time I decide to break out the welder that'll be the first thing that I build!

Factory gas tank skid is good but the aftermarket ones are a little thicker, but that translates to heavier too. OEM skid works fine. Had one on a prior XJ and took it obver mostly logs and stumps but it held up to those just fine.

I received the t-case skid today. it's a very good quality product as far as i can see. Not painted but that's good cuz i wanted to color it myself with crayons. I spoke with the guy on ebay a little. His name is Bruce and he said he has alot of these to sell so if you guys are interested, here's his email:
bbeaumont83@yahoo.com

He said email him instead of ebay cuz he only has one listed at a time. Since it was a great product, i told him i'd spread the word and he appreciated it.

No pictures of mine yet. GF took the camera for a couple days.
