Hey Guys,

As the title says. I recently purchased a Jeep XJ '00. While driving the speedometer isn't working, though it would jump from 0 - 100 and back to 0 again. the Check Engine
light is on as well. So after scanning the code "P0500" I replaced the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) purchased from a friends scrapped XJ (was working fine in his jeep) and cleared the code.
After i replaced it, my speedometer is completely dead with no movement at all and the code is back again. Any suggestions?

P.S.
before replacement of the VSS, while speedometer was acting cuckoo-coo if i floored it, i would lose complete power to the engine as well for a second or two.

I'd say start by inspecting the wiring to it all the way back to the loom and see if any fault can be found there. Also check any connectors for corrosion and clean if necessary.
