Default Jeep won't start

I've got a 98 cherokee that won't start. It was throwing nss codes so I took that off cleaned it and reinstalled (very informative thread on the nss by the way) I replaced the starter still nothing. When I turn the key all the gauges work the fuel pump runs but when I turn the key nothing. I did do the screwdriver to the 2 posts and the starter clicked. Please help!

A clicking starter, sounds like a weak battery, or bad connections on battery cables...

Have you tried charging the battery...

Start by cleaning all of the grounding points not just at the battery but all of them also lean the connections at the starter. I would also take the battery in and have it load tested. It could have 12 volts but the the correct amps possibly a bad cell. Just because it's only a year old doesn't mean it can't be bad. I had a brand new battery go bad after a week. Just a few thing to start with. Let us know what you find and we can go from there.

I have had good results with Interstate batteries the past 20 years.

I had poor results with Exide batteris going bad after 2 or 3 years of use.

I don't have a picture but in the fuse/relay box under the hood, I took that apart to where all the wires were showing and I found that the black&white wire going to the starter relay had come loose so that it was not making contact with the relay. I simply pushed it up on to the relay and it ha started ever since
