The other day I was driving and my radio kept turning off and on then I went to turn on my windshield wipers and the jeep shut off.I went to go start it back up and once I turn the key nothing happens. There is a click but nothing turns on, my head lights and dash lights still work when turning them on. I towed it home and tested the alternator and battery. Everything checked out so I went a head and changed the terminal cables and looked at all my grounds. It still doesn't start. Any ideas on what the problem could be? Thanks!

Year? Looking at grounds is a tough way to determine if they're good. You must remove, clean etc to ensure they're good. Unless of course, you have the ability to see electricity flowing. LOL.

 

didn't catch a year on that, but if it is a renix the blue ignition box on the top of the steering column may be the culprit. had one or two short out on me with the same symptoms.

 

Yeah it's still broken, and it's a 89. I wish I was able I do that!

 

When the relay puts 12v to the small solenoid terminal on the starter, it should crank. If you where to jump power to that with a screwdriver or something be sure you're in park as it might start even if it's in gear/drive!!!!

 

i was going to say sounds like your starter is jammed up. take a hammer to the solenoid a few times

 

If it was the starter it wouldn't cut out an die on me while I was driving right?

 

Good point. I could have read it better. You said, "There is a click but nothing turns on,". No blower, no blinkers, radio? I wonder if something shorted while you where driving and blew a fusible link. Mine's the same as yours, I wouldn't mind knowing more about which does what.
