Alright. I pull the c101 and cleaned it best I could. After than I removed the coil and cleaned a gritted the points, put it back and hooked up. Checked the cap to the distributor. Everything there looks fine. Negative battery cable insulator is toasted but no grounding to the body or anything where exposed. Replaced CPS (previously stated), change some fuses by the coil.

Back story to how it happen:
Pulled it up to the garage after it started shifting hard and idling up. Kept stuttering when clutch was engage. So I gave her some gas and a big black smoke cloud came out and she was out. She attempted to start back up nut then she was done.

Status
Still no spark.

What I've heard
I have now heard it could be Gas in the oil. I don't know how that applies to spark but some insight would be good.
Could need a whole new distributor and coil. Well both are new. As of 1 year old. Previous owner beat the hell out of it though.
ASD Relay and other fuse boxes. These seem likely, but I put in some good ones so maybe they weren't.
Alternator. If the alternator was bad I think I could tell by it wouldn't want to start.

Anything that can be said to HELP me could be useful right now as we are getting snow right now and I need this toy.

FROM WHAT I AM GETTING IT MAY ALL BE THAT GROUND CABLE. Hope Not

Where did the cloud of black smoke come from?

Gas in the oil will obviously have no affect on spark.

There is an ignition module located beneath the coil, I don't know if that could have been fried by the shorting of the CPS leads. At the least, I would recommend pulling the module and cleaning the contacts.

Did you say you swapped the ECU with another known good ECU or was that just the CPS?

Black cloud smoke came from exhaust ( and muffler leak)
Ignition module? I would need a reference to know what you mean.
Just the CPS was replaced.

BUT, he said the CPS tested fine. It wouldn't with a flexplate/flywheel which had damaged it.

Puff of black smoke? How's the plastic line from the throttle body to the MAP sensor?

Pull a spark plug and see if it's gas fouled.

I didn't believe he tested the CPS (which he didn't). He ended up saying it was just swapped in to a different vehicle and a voltage test wasn't done. If the other vehicle had better wiring, cleaner contact points, etc then a weak CPS would be more likely to work on theirs than on his. Without an actual voltage test we don't know for sure if it is actually at 0.5v(?) or much lower.

But after he said he swapped it to test and it looked fine I stopped asking him to look at it.

Hopefully he gets it fixed up and lets us know what the issue is.

Can you confirm that your CPS is ~1mm away from touching the flywheel? Find something that is about 0.040" thick and try to put it between the gap. If it goes in with no resistance then your CPS is probably mounted too far away and not registering.

For reference 0.040" is about 13 sheets of thin notebook paper stacked together if you don't own a micrometer.
