If you just need to get home, put a screw in it and leave the cap loose.

I think it's a screw-sized hole and not a pin hole leak.

One thing you might try is to find some Bars Leaks. It has been out on the market for many, many years and does work on small perforations. I've used it myself with excellent results. Some say that putting stop leak chemicals in the cooling system clogs it, but I, or anyone else I know that has used it, haven't had this happen using this particular brand. Don't use any other brands as some of them don't work that well. Bars Leaks makes it's product in several forms. The one I like the best is the liquid and they make a heavy duty version also. Still, get what you can find unless you can wait until tomorrow when the auto parts stores re-open.

As few stores will be open if you have to get it today, try the larger chain convienience stores. Often, they have it.

Mind you, this is not meant to be a permanent fix. The rads on Jeeps from this era have a tendancy to basically decompose. I've replaced the rads on three of the four XJs I've owned. The best prices I've found on new rads is with 1-800-RADIATOR. They ship next day to your door.

Not sure where you can get it on Xmas day but when I had a leak I just got some Speedy Bond (Putty that turns to metal) and stuffed it in there. It dries very fast and sealed it up permanently.

Tough to plug a screw sized hole....for much time. Bottom line is you will need a new radiator.

X1.Temporarily patch it it up and don't stray far from home and get a new one.I just got one at Autozone for around 100.I just went with an OEM style radiator instead of a 3 row or such because of Autozones warranty. If I accidentally bump a tree or something I will take it back

We had a hard freeze, 89 I think, Arctic blast all the way down to San Deago. That old ******* there<< under "my photos" , I had left WATER in. Cracks run the length of both the head, and block on the left. Water just runs out the side like a bank full of springs, Oil is fine! On days I use it I just hit the spice rack and pick out some that looks old. Majorm is a fine powder, a little onion flake, grind a little Basel between my palms. Just mount the old Hodaka tank up behind the cab for the gravity gas, toss the spice in the Radiator and she's good to go for a days wood hauling. (One road here is too steep. Got to stop, get out and move the gas tank to the front bumper to go up)(no ****!) E-Brake cable/chain comes through where the floor use to be, fits on the pin on the brake pedal that use to have the rod for the master cyl. Has "I can't drive 55" bumper sticker.

Correction, the head may well not be cracked.

I always carried a can of ground black pepper in the glovebox of my old Nissan Patrol. One day a stick poked a hole in the radiator. I added the ground pepper and some water. I watched the radiator stop leaking. I odered a new radiator on the folowing Monday morning but didn't install it for months since the original radiator never leaked again.
