Default jeep fuel line break.

I own a 1990 xj. Just changed head gasket and all the other gaskets I could. But after putting it all back together the supply fuel line to the fuel rail is broken and to get fuel you have to hold key in cranking position. Anybody know what the fuel line part is called and why I would have to hold my key in that position to start it? Any help is great its my DD and haven't had a ride in almost two weeks

any pictures would be great! otherwise you should be able just go get a new fuel line from the dealer. they can be dissconnected near the bottom of the fire wall. and as far as the fuel only coming when the key is in the crank postion thats normal untill the engine is started. the fuel pump will only turn on for about 2 seconds otherwise untill sensors start showing that the engine is running.

The part number for the fuel line from Jeep is 83502545. (I think.)

You need to replace that line.

The engine doesn't have the pressure to start and like this other guy says... it's not going to pump if the engine doesn't start.
