I gotta toss mine in the mix of high miles with few problems, all of which were self inflicted! 574,199 and still rollin stock internals, I bough it 11 years ago for the wife with 117k. Now does 30 mile round trips for work and still pulls my 21 foot boat at 70 with cruise with 35's. Ah the wonders of being **** with routine maintinance....

Dude, 574,199?! That's sick and awesome all at once. That's sawesome!
Makes me feel like mine is still in the womb at 125K. Which, by the way, runs like a top. I did all the things the POs needed to do in the first few months, so I have spent my time fixing lame cosmetic things like center console inserts, and saving money for the massive amounts of mods I still want to do...

only 139000 here, but runs like a top, for the most part. it needs some tlc to fix a couple little nuisances. and the only time my engine has sputtered and/or stalled is with a stock paper filter intake, and some water holes that were too deep. even runs with multiple cylinder misfires and a map sensor unplugged!! (never buy bosch spark plugs, map unplugged for poops and giggles)after addressing the air filter problem, the thing went through water up to the windshield without a snorkel.
nice thread too!!

89 Cherokee Limited 4.0L, 4x4, Auto, 4" lift, 31" tires and 293,000 miles. Still runs strong like a PBR bull. Just replaced all the axle bearings, diff bearings and front hubs. They were after all 20 yrs old. And I put a True-Trac in the front end.

I read this and fell out of my chair. I then proceeded to go outside and hug my XJ for just how good a vehicle it HAS been and how it CONTINUES to be. Any secrets you wanna share??

holy crap i been to the moon and back!!!lol All ive done is regular maintinance and drove her every day. The biggest problem i had was misire and no power. After replacing every sensor and a tune up it turned out to be a 15 cent hose clamp on the pick up tube for the fuel pump. The jeep has been awsome and has been the 1 rig we always kept. No secrets just got lucky on this one.
Yeah, my first jeep had 242xxx and still runs strong but its rusted to hell. But i put that thing through hell. The one i drive now has 222xxx and hasn't missed a beat. i love my XJ.
my 96 xj with 220,000km runs like i top i drive it 7 hours to work and then use it as a work truck cause the super duty they supplied us gets stuck every where it goes and my jeep just cruises right on passed...i am forever gratefull to the jeep gods for making since a fine vechile
