Default jeep dependability? I'm impressed.

Just wanted to let everyone know my xj's running good today. And a high five to AMC for making it all happen.

Mine is running great for a jeep with 146k miles and minimal maintenance. Starts every day and takes me over 60 miles a day. What else can you buy for 3k right now that looks this good.

Same here! My 1992 with 250K miles runs like a top. Previous owner didn't replace squat or replace fluids so I did all the maint when I bought it a few years ago.

Although I did replace my water pump and it DID run like crap until I hooked up the temp sender wire that I disconnected.

Runs like a sewing machine still!

Hands down the BEST vehicle I have ever owned.

1984 Cherokee Pioneer 2.5L (Ran great and got me through the worst snow in years in 2007ish) Sold as I bought a newer 86 XJ.
1986 Cherokee Limited? 2.8L (Fun! 5 speed. Traded in for my '99)
1990 Cherokee 4.0L (Deal on Craigslist. Bit of tuneup and sold for $$$)
1992 Cherokee Sport 4.0L (Still have! You will have to pry it from my cold dead hands)
1999 Cherokee Sport 4.0L (Laid off and had to sell. I miss the old girl)
-------------------------------------

Other vehicles owned? In order of appearance...

1963 Plymouth Valiant 225 Slant 6 (Blew the rear end spider gears out. Hahahah. Slant Six Power! lol)
1973 Plymouth Scamp 318 v8 Auto (Sold when I went to college)
1972 Oldmobile Delta 88 Royale 455 rocket. HAULED. Sold for the engine
1973 Dodge Charger SE 318 v8 (Lost in a poker game)
1977 Chrysler Cordoba 400 v8 LOADED (Dumba$$ attack.. Sold it. DUMB..)
1982 Datsun 212 Wagon (Totalled twice. Second was a t-bone by a large car)
1986 Ford Escort. Paid $100. Delivered pizzas for 1 year and sold for $500.
1986 Chevy Sprint 1.0L 3 cylinder 5 speed. 50+ MPG. WHEE! Sold
1988 Chevy Spectrum. Ex got it.
1972 Cadillac ElDorado 502 V8 Front Wheel Drive (Minnesota car so terminal frame rot.)
1986 Chevy Citation X11.. Not gonna say any more
1986 Datsun 212 Hatchback. Rusted away to nothing
1986 Chevy Celebrity "Eurosport". Nothing sporty about it. traded
1973 Buick Lesabre 455 with bad head gaskets. Sold.
1987 Chrysler LeBaron 2 door. 3 motors and 1 tranny later... sold
1964 Plymouth Valiant V100. Sold. Never got last payment.
1980 Honda C650 Bike. Still have. Never sell it.
1984 Dodge 100 Pickup 318 (Piece of crap. paid $50 for it. Junked it)
1985 Dodge W100 Pickup 4x4. 360 v8. Sold it
1986 Ford F150. 300 6 banger 4 speed 4x4. Fun, but killed my bad back.
1986 Honda Civic. Tin can. Sold
1987 Honda Civic. Tin can. Freebie. Sold.
1997 Mitsubishi Galant. Nothing pretty. Ran good. Sold.
1990 Ford F150. Great truck. Traded it also for my '99 XJ. D'oh.
1992 Pontiac Bonneville 400K miles on it! Sold it
1990 Dodge Grand Caravan SE. 2 trannys. Ex has it still. 300K miles.
1998 Dodge 2500 V10 fullsize 4x4. WHEE! Too big
2002 Dodge Intrepid. 2.7L motor. Time bomb. Sold
2002 Chevy Blazer. Too darned small inside and sorta heavy. 4.3L Vortec. Sold.
1990 Dodge Colt. When it rained it died. Sold
1998 Buick LeSabre Limited. Still have. Nice car and easy to work on.

Good Grief thats alot of cars! Started driving in 1986.

Still like my XJ over all of them. Well, except for my 1990 F-150.

Checking in from SWFlorida. Jeep isn't starting. I'm a little concerned with the ignition system on these trucks, it appears whenever I place the key to the "RUN" position, I get no crank or no start.... oh wait, I was using the house key. Silly me.

All good here.

My '98 4x4 w/189K mi starts and runs like new. I wouldn't hesitate to get in and drive it anywhere I wanted to go.
The only vehicle I've owned that I liked almost as much as my '98 XJ is the '85 2wd XJ that I owned some 15 yrs. ago.

XJ's ROCK!!

126k driving 100 mi a day. Just got it inspected and was told they would be lenient, but they didn't need to be. When all was said and done I was told I have a great looking jeep for the north east.
