Default jeep cranks and hicups while cranking????

i have an 88 cherokee and while im cranking it over it was almost seem like the starter dies then continues cranking.... or the engine will hicup while its cranking.

once it gets started it runs fine...

brand new blue top battery, brand new starter, brand new coil, brand new cap, plugs are fairly new and wires are new.

Hiccup?

Try scaring it or a glass of water always helps.

Usually when I hiccup I start again in like 10 seconds.... then 10 more seconds.

Very annoying

Maybe some screwed up teeth on the flywheel or flexplate?

I dunno which is more funny. Your answers or the OP ignoring you.

OP, what have you done to diagnose? Have you changed your plugs and wires recently? Hows your air filter looking?

Does it still happen if you let the key sit in the "on" position for a few seconds before cranking it?

Almost sounds like you lose fuel pressure when the truck is off, but I'm not sure. Have you done anthing else to diagnose?

Your Jeep has a guage for oil pressure or an idiot light? Just asking because mine was hard as hell to start and my oil pressure was reading maxed out. Blew my oil filter off and did other things I havent figured out yet.
