Quote: oil pressure is fine.... i was just thinking could it be my check valve gone on the pump assembly? maybe all the fuel is leaking back into the tank?

I was thinking it could be the check valve as well, which is why I suggested you turn the key to the "on" position and waiting a few seconds before actually turning the motor over. That gives the pump a little bit to prime, and would show if the check valve is failing.

Try turning the key "on" then "off" then "on" then "off" a few times, pausing for a few seconds every time you turn the key "on." If you do this a few times without the car turning the motor over, you prime the pump over and over and over, which builds the pressure.

Once you've done this a few times try starting it. If it starts quicker than normal, chances are it is indeed the check valve going bad and not holding pressure.

ok,

ive changed the check valve, and injector seals so the line is primed with fuel, TPS sensor is new and adjusted.

but now when i crank the truck it still wont have a consistant crank...

it will turnover a couple times then stop dead and the starter will get it spinning again then it will stop and start spinning again over and over...

i started the truck yesterday and put it on the road... now it wont even start just keeps doing the same thing over and over that i said above... my friends 89 will crank almost twice as fast as mine too....

can the crank sensor cause this?? what about poor battery cables they are original but dont look that bad... ive cleaned all the main grounds under the hood and the starter is brand new.

also my battery is a fairly new blue top.

The blue top is a marine/deep cycle IIRC...

I would take the starter in and get it tested, check flywheel teeth while youre at it.
Sounds to me like your starter is junk

bump... changed the crank sensor and all the grounds on the truck... fixed the chug/hiccup while it cranks... but it wont actually run..

can there be a bad relay that can cause this?? we just recent had a extreme cold snap and it was down to -25C (it ran the day before this) could that have killed one of my relays?

If it does truely have fuel and spark, timing could be off from the CPS (crank) or something.

Bump,

bump,

beepeedy

bop-odey bump!

You have pressure at the rail?

Renix motors turning over can be clocked using a sun dial. I can start cranking mine, go back inside, make a cup of coffee, set my DVR to Powerblock (given it's a Sunday), go back into the garage and by that time it's just about turned over.

Take the starter back. Just cause somethings new, doesn't mean it's good. I've said a few times on other threads, I went through 3 starters out of the box in 30 minutes outfront of a parts store one time in my YJ, all were brand new, and defective.

And +1 to the blue top being deep cycle, and to checking the flywheel.

ok update,

went over every connection under the hood and cleaned everything plus some electrical grease, replaced starter, brand new optima red top... just for the hell of it.

still just cranks..sounds like it just wants to run but wont.

next on the block is starter relay and ICM what do you think?

Read through the topic twice to be sure that I didn't miss the answer to my question which is have you changed your fuel filter?
