Great thought. Front axle disconnected, t-case in 4H. Who would know?Originally Posted by freegdr

Checked the fluid, topped her off as she was low. Double checked all the linkage. Now she's shifting like she's supposed to. Thanks for all the help/suggestions. I did however notice that the linkage is a little wore out, there's a little too much play in the bushings.

It took almost a quart of dex III, so it was pretty low. I think if I remember correctly the capacity is 1.5 - 2 quarts? I did re-adjust the linkage at the same time, although it didn't look like it adjusted any farther from where I had it before, so who knows.Originally Posted by DFlintstone

How's the levels in the other boxes, like diffs, trans etc?Originally Posted by Catch22556

Trans is spot on, I've been keeping an eye on that since I replaced it awhile back. Diffs on the other hand, no idea. That's something I've been meaning to check. After my last wheelin' trip I did notice a leak at the passenger side front axle at the knuckle, assuming it's an inner axle seal. I plan on replacing all my u-joints this weekend so that will give me an excuse to crack open the front and rear diffs to check them out, replace parts as necessary.Originally Posted by cruiser54

The stuff you're ignoring, and takes minutes to check, can get ruined from neglect. The transfer case gave freegdr a hint or you'd still be fighting that I suspect. Maintain your Jeep.Originally Posted by Catch22556
