Isn’t this supposed to be plugged into something?

Found this unplugged connector today. I’ve had this Jeep for a year and I guess it has been unplugged the whole time. Jeep is a 1988 Wagoneer 4.0 4x4 auto trans.

It is a 3 wire connector with only 2 wires: one is pink with white stripe and the other white with a black stripe. The wires go to the main engine harness that leads to the big c101 connector.

Thanks for your help!

It looks like the connector that the Crankshaft Position Sensor plugs into. It might no longer be needed if the CPS is connected to the ECU bypassing the harness that goes to the C101 connection. Find your CPS wire by following the sensor on the bell housing. if it's going into the firewall directly, someone did the modification.

Agreed. The Techs were supposed to tape it back into the harness when performing the CPS bypass modification.

Thanks for the help! I’m about to eliminate the c101 and that’s when I found it.

By the way, Cruiser, I’m off work for a few days so I decided to do a few of your tips. After a 500 mile trip this past weekend, had to do the valve cover mod. I think two quarts of oil went through the air box and under my Jeep. I didn’t have a 1/2 inch drill bit, so I used a 3/8. I used a blue felpro gasket, so I can always pop it off and redo if it doesn’t work. I also did the c101 elimintion, ground wires in the harness and freshened up the dip stick ground.

I just cruised around town and it seems like it’s running better.

Thanks so much for those write ups!

Wish I would have taken more pics than this.

Good news-Don't forget to tie back those wire looms so that they aren't touching the hot parts. Depending on the type you get, some of the stuff is really heat sensitive and melts pretty easy.
