Default random plugged vacuum line

I've been trying to diagnose a poor gas mileage problem and noticed this plugged line towards the rear of the engine compartment, which looks like it's some sort of vacuum line?

Any ideas if this should be going somewhere else, or if it's normal for it to be capped like this? Tried looking in my FSM but couldn't find anything. It's a 2000.

Thanks,
Andrew

can you trace it to see where it leads? or find something else that is plugged. it could be the fuel vapor line from the gas tank. hard to tell from here though.

Awesome, thank you! Is that white part a check valve? Excuse my ignorange, but shouldn't the vent not have a cap op it, so the tranny can "breathe" ?

that actually looks like your front axle vent tube, the transmission and transfercase one should be on the passenger side. mine was bolted to the top of the passenger side bellhousing.
