Planned on using it on a D35 rear.
Any input appreciated!

only seen a couple shafts snap. i have seen many destroy ring gear teeth. also the 8.25, only buy on if its a 29spline unit. they also came 27 spline and its about the same strength as a d35

I appreciate the input guys! I know the whole D35 stigma but I am in a bit of an awkward position shop wise so it would be pretty tough for me to swap an axle. Finding one is a whole other battle, only one JY within 250 miles of me (North central Nevada). I guess the next question would be if one of these is even necessary with a 29 spline chrysler or a D44?

I'm not and won't be running anything bigger than 33's. That being said, I do plan on throwing aussie lockers in front and rear at some point. I know the 35 is a piece but I just don't know if it will be worth me spending the time and money to upgrade it to an 8.25 or D44. I'm not into the crazy stuff; just want a rig that I can have fun with.

if you go with a locker go with a full case locker. it'll be way stronger and you'll lessen your chances of breaking a ring and pinion gear. but if you can definatly go with a 8.25 or D44

Ha...Wow...I have got to say that part of that must be on the driving. It seems like there should be a better way to do that. Think I'll keep my eyes out for a replacement axle over the winter and if I can't find it I'll just go with what I've got...Thanks gents.

Yeah you might lesen your chances of destroying gears but that increases your chances of snapping shafts more than it reduces the chances of the gears blowing. You lock a d35 you can say bye bye to your shafts with anything bigger than a 29" tire.

That's why I don't run c-clip axles any more. The 8.25 is stronger but can do the exact same thing. Rear disc help but I drove mine out of the trail with them holding the axle in and they never worked right again.
