Never got mine welded (It is aluminum after all) but my last one broke at the same spot and I just shoved a piece of wood between the PS pump/bracket and intake and it stayed put pretty good.

Never tried it but this stuff looks pretty promising. http://durafix.com/

I just basically found a wedge of wood that was just a tad to big and hammered it in there LOL But don't make it to big or the PS pump will start to tilt forward and throw the belt off. But in all seriousness you should fix it correctly. The intake manifold isnt that hard of a swap out and it would be a good time to upgrade to a 99+ intake. But just to get around until then you can do what I did as it worked for a good long time.
