Installing tracbar
I apparently need a new track bar to get an alignemetn ( ,,/,, belle tire)
Anyway, i see what they are talking about though, when the weight of the vehicle is on the front end, i start it up and turn the wheel and the ball and socket joint of the tracbar has a tiny tiny tiny bit of play in it when you move the steering wheel. Does this really need to be replaced to get it aligned and for it to stay aligned properly? Also, if i do decide to put a new one on, do you need to remove any other components to replace the tracbar?

yes you should replace it. i had a little play in mine at the axle end, i thought it would be fine but nope first time on the highway thought the front end was going to fall off best to replace it. For installing it just unbolt the one bolt at each end and put the new one in that easy

The trackbar centers your axle under your XJ.
If your axle is not centered, alot of alignment shops cannot give you an alignment.
Not because they want to be <insert your favorite expletive here>, it is because thier equipment lines up the front and rear tires to assure your front tires are pointing in the direction they should be //---\\ \\---//
Replacement is rather easy.
Single bolt on axle end.
Standard tie-rod end style on the upper (body) mount.
Hardest part I found is getting that $#@%!! cotter pin out.

yes you need to replace it. i also thought it was good untill i got DEATH WOBBLE the s***t is serious. if you cant remove the cotter pin that is in the bracket of the track bar that is on the frame mount. Remove the whole mount. soak everything in PB blaster. it was alot easier removing the whole mount. there are two bolts on the inside of the wheel well by the coils i belive 18mm then they are two by the bracket on the inside. they are 18mm or 19mm. Then the axel mount size is 15mm. soak everything in pb so it goes alot easier. if you have a a lift more then 3" i perfer spending lilttle extra cash on a adustable track bar. so you can have the aliment ajust it so its completey centerd

Easy trick I found to get the axle side back in is let the XJ back on the ground with all the weight on it and then have a buddy turn the wheel til the whole lines up, I seen sumbody on here use a jack and the wall in there garage to line up, just thought Id throw that in

So how exactly should i go about doing this then....?
Do i have to remove the upper trackbar mount, or can i simply unbolt the ball/socket joint there?

Looks bad on offroaders.....and on us for allowing itto be publicly announced
if I were you..I'd keep my less than legal mods to myself.......

What FrankZ said. I didn't even jack my rig up when I changed the track bar. hardest part is the cotter pin. Using, BFH and pickle fork to free the TRE, can be frustrating. Just change hands when you arm gets tired.
