OK guys, A buddy and I just purchased an 01 xj with a blown motor. He wants the donor jeep after I pull a few things off it. It has an after market billet aluminum fuel rail and Bosch 4 hole injectors. I have no idea how long ago they were installed. I've already pulled them off and they look good . However, is there a way to test them before I install them on mine? They physically look good and all the o-rings look good. Or do I just hit them with some carb cleaner and go for it? Also, is the fuel rail really an upgrade, or just eye candy?

 

Real or chinese knock-off Bosch injectors? What's the model number on them, and what year XJ are you planning to install them in?

 

Genuine Bosch. I can get the part # tomorrow. Going in a 2000 4.0

Just test the resistance on all 6 of them (Ohm reading across the poles). If they are all roughly the same you are probably good to go.

I don't know about the fuel rail, but get a Mopar 53013669AA heat shield if you don't have one.

 

Flow rates on the Bosch 162 look comparable to stock, so they should work. If the Bosch injectors are longer, that would explain the custom fuel rail. I believe the Bosch injectors have a different connector, so make sure you grab any connectors or adapters that might have been used.

 

How do we tell tell real deal Bosch from the counterfeits ?

 

If they were advertised as new and under $200 for the set, they're fake.

Getting a tune up and the shop found two cracked injectors in my 2000 4.0 XJ. They've been waiting for over a month and are unable to source Mopars, but can get Napas. Are those okay? I don't want to to an upgrade as I feel XJ's prefer stock specifications long term.
