Default Injectors! Oh boy!

How do we clean the injectors? Precautions, tricks? anything??
Should I also clean the fuel 'rail' which supplies fuel to the injectors?

In your location can you buy bottles of "Fuel Injection Cleaner" from the auto parts store, gas station, or department store? If so, buy some ,read the label, and add to your fuel tank. That is the safest way to clean your injectors and fuel system, short of having it done professionally. It is hard to tell what kind of services are offered overseas, so I am giving safe advice.

i have been using z-max for oil and fuel every time i do an oil change. if you just want to clean the rail it is easy enough like 3 10mm bolts hold it on. please make sure to put new o rings on the injectors if you are going to pull them off. now pull the injectors from the dismounted rail and use carb cleaner to clean the rail inside and out. would also be a good time to soak the injectors in carb cleaner. pull the o rings off them. and spray down to remove dirt from the out side then let them soak in some new carb cleaner in a pan or bucket for a while. pull them out dry them off new o rings back on the rail good to go. make sure you lube the o rings with some new motor oil before putting them back on or they will tear or rip

Yes I can buy the Injector Cleaner bottles.. But I want to clean the injectors first since I believe cleaning them myself would be a better job than using an aftermarket injector cleaner, which I believe wouldn't be much effective.

So should I just remove the injectors, spray the carb cleaner on them to remove the dirt outside.. then I put them in a pan full of carb cleaner and let them stay their for a few mins.. dry them off, use new o-rings and lube them before fitting them. And thats it?

I can also get them cleaned by a workshop, but, they charge an arm and a leg for these EFi vehicles.. getting the codes scanned alone would cost atleast $10 so you get the idea.

Here, you can read your codes yourself for free.>-->http://jeephorizons.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2719
Different people do things differently. I'm an old fart, and believe in the occasional use of the bottled additive in the tank. I have used Turbo-Blue racing gas in my turbo cars and it leaves a deposit on the valves and plugs up the injectors. I have never successfully removed and cleaned the fuel injectors. I simply replace them. But that's me, you do it your way.

basically just let um sit for a while you could use the time to clean the rail and get the new o rings lubed up so they don't tear. this is a basic cleaning you can send them out to get a professional job but that cost a lot o money the idea is to get the dirt out and get the injector faces clean to get a good spray pattern

The price to have them professionally cleaned vs getting new ones is pretty close to the same. If the injectors are indeed bad just get new ones.

that is if they are bad he just asked about cleaning the rail and the injectors not replacing them. but yeah it is cheaper to get new ones then pay the shipping and services to have them rebuilt for the most part

I won't be sending them to any mechanic, I would just be cleaning them and putting them back and see the difference.. I don't think any of my injectors are bad We'll see, and oh, are injectors, kinda universal? I mean, I cannot get a specific cherokee injector here in Pakistan, like would a toyota's petrol injector fit it, for example?
