It's the computer. I'm going to the JY after work tomorrow to get a new one. Will I have to get it flashed after I replace it since it's a used one or will it work without? Also, what years will work for it? Mine is a 96 with a 98 motor. I only swaped the motor not the harnesses too.

Would the BCM cause this? I went to the dealer and they wouldn't sell me a new copm, they said it's probly the BCM and not the comp. Does the BCM have several harnesses and relays on it? If so then I found it, if not then I have no clue what it looks like. The one I found is under the DS dash. Is this it? I have went over every ground known to man and they are all good. Checked every fuse on the Jeep, replaced with 3 different clusters and still nothing. My gauges go on and off. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I have to get it e-checked by this saturday and they won't check it if my engine light is on. I had it scaned and it keeps comming up the TPS is bad(high voltage at sensor). I tried 7 brand new sensors from 3 different parts stores and it keeps comming up that it's bad. Whats the deal with that?

I won't bring it up again, I promise!
I tried disconnecting the CPS, o2's, airbag mod, checked every harness I could find, fuses and relays, grounds, gauge cluster, BCM, ECM, disconnected every after market accessory and added a new ground to the the gauges. What am I missing?
All i can say is i feel your pain,my 1998 cherokee limited has me in fits also,my issue is weird, all my gauges work until i turn the head lights on,then my tack drops,no speedo, odemeter, rear wiper comes on.Have afriend who is a tech, says that the ground around the headlight or a wire arcing out in that area is most likely causing this,i will be checking soon as i get time----also forgot my turn signals do not work, when the headlights are on

Well, I've got a story for both of you for what it's worth. The lights on a little Toyota truck where extra goofy. Like if I hit the brake the front running lights would come on. I don't even want to talk about the blinkers. (I had cleaned things up). I ended up taking a 20 foot cord, maybe from an old vacuum cleaner and hooked it right to the NEG post on the battery. Then I went around with the other end grounding things that should be grounded. It turned out (right away), that the whole bed wasn't grounding. I was working...I just added a good jumper from the bed to the cab and off I went.
So there's one way to check for a bad ground
