Im looking for a cheap and easy way to..
Idk I'm just stating this but there really is not any way to have a "COLD AIR" intake on a cherokee because of were the stock air box is located it's just not capable of getting true Cold Air. Now I read threw this thread and everyone has there opinion about k&n personally I use strictly ams oil and ams oil filters. I've built plenty of jeeps in my teenage days and I'm still building them to this day, but personally I like the Stock air box.

there are alot of independent ams oil dealers, selling out of their shops. we have one around here, im sure if you googled ams oil dealers and your zip you may find them. i use their oils in all my power sports item Quad, etc. but never knew they made filters.

unless its a true ram air, every CAI i have ever seen all models draws ''cold'' air from behind the headlight, one side or another? are you saying the air from behind an xj headlight is different? ive had k/n fipk's on everything from a svt cobra to a dodge 3500 and all draw air the same way, behind the headlight. so not sure what your idea of a CAI is then. i do agree that a jeep isnt the best place for one, it makes sucking up water oh so easy. i like stock box with nice element. or snorkel, but dont get me started on snorkels! lol

As for the oil on the filter, it may help slightly, but waters coming through that filter if it gets there either way.
Which I why I wouldn't ever run a CAI on a jeep..I run a cowl intake. It still pulls fresh cold air since cold air is always flowing over the hood, but it also raises the induction point quiet a bit. Perfect cai/cheater snorkle setup.

Most of the K&N intakes I see don't have a great heatsheild..they don't seal great and inturn they suck up the hot air they are great to keep out. About 90% of the CAI out for jeeps are this way though, and the only way I'd ever get any intake for any car again is if it had a sealed box.
I had a volant CAI on my 06 frontier and it had a completey sealed box, and a ram air scoop & tube. No way for hot engine bay air to get in there at all. And that cost me around 300 bucks..that much on a intake for a jeep is pointless. I'd spend 30 bucks on a cowl intake and the rest on injectors, exhaust and be much further ahead!
Then again jeeps and CAI?
Yes snorkels are a whole different story lol but really a snorkel is True Cold air. I mean I've seen some crazy *** ideas and things done with jeeps for there, so called CAI lol but hey they don't say "it's a jeep thing you wouldn't understand" for nothing cause a lot of people just don't understand us jeep guys
You want a taurus fan from actual car. Not offline..the ones they make now don't flow no where need what the factory one does..read up online and find the correct year & part# and you should be able to find oshape! ne easy enough. you need the fan shroud to, that should be in great..cause the better it is, cleaner it'll look.
