1995 Cherokee 100k miles

When the engine is cold, it starts right up. Also starts right up when the engine is hot. However, when the engine is warmish, say after having started in the morning and driven a couple miles. It wont restart. The lights, gauges, radio, windows... everything works, but it won't start back up. No noise from under the hood, no cranking, no clicking, nothing. Sometimes putting it in neutral and moving it forward or backward seems to help... but that may just be a coincedence. Wait a half hour or so and it starts right up. Wondering what may be the problem.

 

No cranking? NSS or bad starter relay or motor.

 

time to bust out the test light and see where you are losing signal... I can play the game of guess all different parts and look good if one of them fixes you but the right way is for you to check for signal when the vehicle isn't starting... Isn't hard to do just get a wiring diagram of the starter circuit and start by the starter and work your way back... It probably isn't the starter but that's where I would start my check...

 

starter soleniod? Mine did the same thing today so I reached under there with a hammer and lightly tapped on it and she fired right up. Just give it a shot next time it does it
