Default ignition off curent draw
anyone have any idea of what kind of current my 97's system should be drawing with everything off, and key off?

nothin at all unless you have a security system and then it would very little and not enough to hurt your battery.

It wont be much. Probably in the miliamps. Just enough to maintain the station memory in the radio and the ECU settings/memory.

According to Mitchell Ondemand, anything above 30 milliamps is excessive.

okay. im going to bring home my meter from work tomorrow and see what its drawing. i might either have a parasitic load somewhere, or a bad battery. load test is also next on the list
