Default Idles like crap

So i have a 87 comanche with a 2.5. jeep has probably around 130k. I used it a couple times on some wheelin days in the Gilbert ohv park. The problem i am having is after it warms up it will not stay running. If you keep er wound up tight it runs just fine with full power. It also smokes pretty good. I wanna keep playing with this thing... not ready to kill it yet. I have been told that it could just be a sensor or something like that. any input?

Look for vacuum leaks. Intake manifold bolt at the head are a common problem. There are several vacuum lines throughout the system and they all need to be hooked up on blocked off if you are not using whatever they are hooked to.

It could also be a TPS= Throttle Position Sensor, or an IAC= Idle Air Control. This happened with my 88 XJ and when I replaced that it runs fine! Try that and get back with us!

If the IAC is not working it would only affect idle speed at warm up mode.

I'd put my money on the iac. Around $50. Fixed all of my idle issues.. Check vaccum lines then try that
