I did replace the 02 and do the bolts. I have been wondering about the egr. That would be one part that I don't understand the function of, can I pull it and clean it? Thanks for all you help with this!

It opens at times, but NEVER at idle, to allow exhaust gasses to enter the intake manifold to be re-burned. It's controlled by a vacuum solenoid which is triggered by the ECU. You can remove it and check it.

Do you have a repair manual of any type for that ? I will look later if needed but with a hand pump you can check the egr for proper operation. The procedure is in my FSM. Before you take it off and play around with it buy the gasket cause it most likely will not come off in one piece.

If your talking about the small hard type vacuum line the black goes to vacuum bottle under front bumper. The gray or mines kind of tan, goes to the heater valve on the hoses going to the heater core.

A vac line open should raise idle. Except I seem to recall the hard vac line between the MAT and throttle body can cause some weird idle issues.

Yet another update. The egr was jammed up and I have replaced it with a functioning one. It ran worse at 1st because that sensor that allows or disallows vacuum to the egr is bad\stuck open. So I have the vac line to the egr disconnected. Runs very well compared to how it was. Now however, at start up it idles at about 800, after driving it it wants to jump up to the 1200-1500 range. What I find even more odd, when I shut it down after driving it and the restart it, it jumps to 3000rmp, I can let it sit for 5 minutes or disconnect the battery and it will start and then idle at about 800 again.

A couple random questions. I need to replace the shocks but I have no idea how lifted the jeep is. Any suggestions on how to figure that out. Also, my fuel gage is backwards, anyone know where I can find the wires that send that info, I should just be able to flip them right??

The egr could have a bad diaphragm causing a big vac leak now. I believe the proper way is to remove and use a egr eliminator block plate and block vac lines as well.

Typical signs of a failed/failing TPS in regards to the idle flare.
