Identifying motor?
Is there a way to identify if I have the original motor or what year a replacement motor might if came from?
I have a '98 4.0 but after closer inspection, some of the seals and other items looked kind of fresh. Also, I broke the oil pressure sensor when changing the oil so I picked up a replacement. It didn't fit so I got a different one. Didn't fit either. After closer inspection, I noticed the plug had black tape wrapped around it just 6" from the end. Gave it a tiny tug and the wires came apart at the electrical tape. So it has been replaced with a plug from a different year or maybe my entire motor has.
