Unhappy IAT question

Well recently when tuning up my Jeep i was installing a new iat sensosr and it snapped off inside the manifold, i got it out but now its stripped
i want to relocate it into my cold air intake but this poses a problem sinsce there is no flush mouniting spot. Ideas? I need to get this fixed my jeep is running like crap. thanks

You should be able to install a helicoil in the old connection,I assume you have something in that hole now to prevent a vacuum leak?

the iat is temp. still in the hole. Whats a helicoil?

They are used on spark plugs alot when the hole gets stripped,they just look like a small coil that you can thread things into,you would have to drill the hole out a bit and install the coil. Your autoparts can show you what they look like. Do you have a vacuum leak at this point? that would be my biggest concern.

Well on my supra.. I put the IAT right in the 3 inch aluminum pipe.. just drill a 1/2 hole in it.. and then screw it in... You acually want it as close to the TB as you can get.. when posible...

so it doesnt matter if the mounting surface isnt flush ?

No it just needs to see inlet temp. The hole that you stripped out is proabably causing a vacuum leak which is causing your jeep to run bad.

nope and supra was turboed... now i did put some jb weld on threads just to be safe.. but when i screwed it in.. i could tell it was nice and tight.. with out the jb...

ok so lock tight would work too right? , what about the port on the intake?

The port on the intake needs to be sealed up tight. You may have to drill and rethread it,or maybe a bolt with some jb weld.

pipe thread plug.... they are taperd and will go in better..and yea jb weld it in if its striped.. let it sit overnight.. and you shouldnt have any issues with it..
