Let me preface this question by stating that I am uninformed when it comes to not only this specific cooling system, but also regarding closed systems. Okay,

It is my basic understanding from reading this thread that the only access to the cooling system here is the overflow bottle. If the overflow bottle is at the rear of the engine, then parking downhill would allow the cooling system to purge out the air, due to the air flowing out of the bottle at the back, correct?

I saw somebody post about a place in the front of the engine where air and coolant would exit. How/ why would coolant leave the system? Leaks are no bueno. If they were simply referring to the fact that it flows to the radiator in the front, then how would this alleviate the issue of trapped air?

Just trying to use logic here, thanks for the expertise you all have/ will show.

Either way the coolant bottle will be the highest point.

I think parking on a flat sirface will be fine.

Coolant and air leave the motor, not the system, at the front of the head.

Make sure your heater is ON full hot when you do this so that you get any air pockets in the heater core as well. Then report back. If that doesn't fix it then we'll move on to the next step(s).
ok i just got a new cap...it seems to be waaaaaay better now the old cap was pretty crappy and busted up looking....so the temp. in the car is about 230 220 and this is on a read of some extra gages not the one in the dashboard its self...that one reads about about 190-200 if i remeber correctly it seemed if the old cap just would spin and spin and spin but wouldnt stay tight enough....i dunno i am learning alot i love this site

Return it and either go to Napa and get a 703-1396 or see if O'Reilly's will exchange it for the equivalent of a 703-1396.

The kind you bought is a cheapo and doesn't seal well generally. The threads don't hold on to the bottle well. The 703-1396 is a Volvo cap and holds a higher pressure, holds the threads better and offers more underhood clearance. I don't think the cap is your real problem but that chinese POS will fail in short order.
