Default HVAC stuck between outlets?

Has anyone ever had this problem? I know that blend door problems are often, but what about the outlet/mode door? My blower motor is blowing like crazy, but I'm not getting very much air out of my vents. I'm afraid that I'm going to have to pull my dash...might it be something else?

Is all the airflow coming through the defrost vents? If so, then you most likely have a vacuum leak. The HVAC system is controled by vacuum and even a small leak will have an effect on the system operation.

no, some of the air is coming out of the vents. It's like it's stuck between two positions. Are the 97-01 ones vacuum controlled too?

Yes, they are all vac controlled. There is a vacuum resevoir (big black ball, aka the Jeep egg) behind the bumper on the passenger side that stores vacuum for the HVAC and cruise control systems. Check it for damage and make sure the lines are properly connected.

X2, very common problem...... Ive had 2 that were broken, or rubbed in two directly behind the battery
