That would be awesome! Take your time tuning it as you won't have the passive x-over to protect the tweeter. I've heard a couple car audio bi amped systems and they were amazing.

The kappa sound nice good speaker crisp highs. As to someone else question components are nice for the fact you can separate mids from highs put mids in door an highs up higher like vents upper door panels etc gonna need amp to run most components though.

Exactly, highs are directional so the closer to your ear level the better, mid bass is semi directional, and bass is omni directional, hence the fact of why you can have them in the trunk and still hear them in the sound stage.

There are oval speakers for home audio in the sound bars.

As for the amount of tweeters in a system there is no set limit.
It depends on how much bass you have otherwise your little 6.5" with one tweeter ain't gonna cut it with lets say 2 12" subwoofer in a proper box with a proper amp with proper wire.

I would drop a set of those for the front since you can adjust the angle of the tweeter.

Ive run a few different speakers in the cars ive owned and i havent been impressed with alot of them. I ran the JL tr series in my audi and they sounded like ***** they were soooo tinney. I figured i would go with cheap jls and they would be great. I love Jl audio but they sucked. Im running alpine type s's and ive had to cut all the tweeters out because they blew out. They sound alright for a cheaper speaker but i like to push things. My best overall speaker was the TMA speakers. They are fairly cheap and had the best all around sound. Thats my long winded 2cents.

honestly for a good cheaper speaker alpine type S, kicker KS, infinity kappa's all sound pretty good. i would choose between them. as for tuning a speaker to sound good i have el cheapo pyramids in my jeep right now and people can't believe how well they sound. i also have 4x5.25's, 2x6x9's and a 10" sub the 5.25"s are on the head unit and 6x9"s have an amp and the sub has an amp. its reasonably loud and after tuning it for 2 weeks setting crossovers, setting amp gain it sounds pretty solid the 5.25s have upper mids and highs while the 6x9s have mid bass and some highs. the sub obviously making up the bass.

I was in sales for four years, was a member of mera and was certified. I've been to mera conventions several times and factory product trainings with pioneer, jl audio, alpine, and boston acoustics. I'd slit my wrists before I'd recommend garbage to a friend, or a felllow xj owner.

Since you actually read, you should go back to who I quoted and see the price he wanted to pay.

Ever heard of Pyle? yeah guess who makes lanzar. I was not promoting them at all just saw the price he wanted to pay and I knew you can find those speakers anywhere.

I had dealership contracts and installed D.U.I devices for court ordered people. I went to all you went to before you were playing your ipod.

I was an authorized dealer for; kicker, cerwin vega, pioneer, kenwood, arc audio, blaupunkt and more.

Now you are making me seem as if I am "promoting" but I never was.

I actually sold my shop in 2007 and got six figures for the shop I designed from scratch.

Nuff said, unless you want pictures and want to come over and see my 4 huge *** filing cabinets with sales figures for 7 years.

For an inexpensive coaxial speaker look into the Infinity Reference. Those are what I'm running and they sound good even off deck power. The Kappas are very nice too, for a bit more money. The Polk db series sound nice as well.

I've been into car audio for about 13 years and SnakeEyes seems to know his stuff. I would pay close attention to his comments in this thread, there is some good advice there.

Well on the same subject of Infinity Reference speakers I have four of those already sitting around, but I pulled them out of my RX-7 which = 4" speakers not 6.5". It has probably been close to three years since I have even heard them make noise. Since these are free, how would it sound to make these 4" ones fit and get a 10" sub in the cubby hole in the back?

Free is always good. You'll lose a little mid bass, but with a properly tuned set up you'll probably not even notice.

What entails of "properly tuning" short of really buying anything else except for a 10" sub and amp for the cubby? Really just plan to keep the 4"ers in the factory location.

Give me mechanical, I got it. Electrical... Not so much.

It depends on your equipment, but usually consists of setting the high pass filter on the head unit, if it has one, the low pass, the amp level or gain, the amp cross over, and then whatever optional settings you have. Bass boost, etc.
