Super easy. Pull the two hoses from the top. Pull all the bolts with a 7/16 socket, don't forget the one in the back. Pick up the cover, replace gasket and put everything back. Sometimes the nut on the backmost headbolt is in the way, you can remove it with an 18 mm and put it back when you're done.

Theres no wires under a valve cover. There's 2 nuts on the passenger side valve cover bolts that hold the spark plug wire organizer down. No big deal.

As long as you've got the thing off, hit it with some degreaser and a little rattle can. Looks a lot better and easier to keep clean with a coat of paint on it.

Cleanest I've ever seen.

You raise a good point about replacing the gasket. Make sure you clean it well before removing the cover. You don't want any dirt getting in the valvetrain.

you need to pop the throttle, cruise and trans kickdown cables(if auto) out of that bracket by the throttle body. I popped all mine and laid them over on the pass. side.

That helps but isn't mandatory.

wow, I had a hard enough time without the cables there. I struggled with the fuel rail and the rear wiring harness.
