Default How to replace intake/exhaust manifold gasket

Hi folks,

I am going to replace this gasket to eliminate the annoying whistle noise. Is there any write-up on how to diy it. How to access the lower bolts on the exhaust manifold? From ground?

Please provide me any tips when you did this job, thanks.

no write up....grab a wrench and strip it off. Lower bolts have to be reached from the top...its a pain you gonna get cuts..but i have removed 10 manifolds...hands have to be snaked under the intake....my suggestion to you is replace the Motor mounts while you are there.....and be ready to find out that you whistling noice is prob a "cracked" header caused by bad motor mounts....keep us posted.

when u pull off the power steering pump u go through the hole there. a rachet should be all u need. worst part is the egr tube, use a cresent an be prepared to do it 1 excruciating 1/10th turn at a time unbless u pull the air box too. takes about 3-4hrs a told just do it right or youll be doin it again..

I found a similar write-up from another forum for pre- '96 Cherokee's. It's not really the one that your looking for, but it should give you a pretty good idea of what your looking at though.

I also agree... the Exhaust Manifolds are known to fail and make that noise. It is suggested to replace your Header, Fuel Injector O-Rings, AND your Motor Mounts. Bad Motor Mounts are usually why Exhaust Manifolds crack!

Good Luck and keep us posted!!!
