Question How to pull axel forward durind lift?!

im installing my lower control arms on my 4.5 lift. The right side of the axel needs to be pulled out some so the arm will fit. on the other side it is straight on and doesnt need to move. I posted both sides of the jeep.

Start Over. you need to remove the coils and disconect the steering so the axle will drop lower and move free. Disconect the tie rods on both sides and everything will go right in place.

just run a porta power from the cross member or other firm place to axle. pump it until you can get the arm in. ive done this with probably 8 cherokees now. it sazes you alot of trouble

I hooked mine to a come-along, one end to axle and the other end to something stationary (i.e. another vehicle or front tow hook).

3 ratchet straps! (safety!) that is how i did mine. one on each knuckle to the bumper (stock works fine) and one in the center for safety. you gotta use a little umph but itll pull forward

I used a cable-type come-a-long attached to another vehicle to pull my axle into the proper position. It was hard to get it to release (cheap come-a-long) but it worked.

A good heavy 6 foot pole... but in hind sight it would be safer and easier to disconnect the steering and go that route.

2x and thumbs down on the other ideas...
take it apart and put the lcas in then the coils.. if you have problems putting in the coils us a jack on the left side and raze up the housing. place right coil in, then jack up right side and put left coil in.. its a snap and with 4" coils you should not even have to use a jack... bot you do not have to disconect steering if you use the jack

Removing the shocks, coil springs, then lower control arms. then re assemble in reverse order. lower control arms, bump stop extenstions(if includedin the kit) coil springs, then shocks. no need for pole, straps, porta power. thats what i did and didnt have any problems.

When I did mine (4")I jacked the body up high and put jack stands under the frame. Next with the tires off I used a floor jack to manipulate the height/distance from the body to adjust and work the control arms. I also used a bottle jack under the pinion section of the diff housing to manipulate the rotation of the axle housing. Cargo straps sound like a good idea too.
