Do I have to stopped? Or in neutral?

Stop, put it in neutral, shift into 4l.

As long as your going below 5MPH, you just need to put it in N and shift into 4lo.

Grind it until it fits. Or just stop, put it in neutral, and drop it into 4L. My tcase always grinds though.

Go below 5mph don't stop then put it in neutral then in 4lo it shouldn't grind

when you get in 4 lo is the steering supposed to feel fudged up when you try to turn lol

the reason I asked I think it messed my tranny up. I didnt stop or put it in neutral and my tranny seized up on me promptly.

Me personally, I would not be moving at all to put it in 4Lo. Stop, trans in neutral, shift t case to 4Lo, (should not grind), trans in D if auto, 1st if manual, and off you go.

it may have been a coincidence but Im not so sure. I put a new tranny in it already but It just kind of got me wondering.

The manual says put the tranny in n then shift the transcase while moving under 5mph (not stopped). Also shift it directly from 4hi to 4lo not stopping at the n position on the transfer case.

I was told to put the tranny in neural. turn off the engine n then go2 4lo. ... also wen I go into 4lo it'll pop out n go to neutral. any suggestions?? could it just need an adjustment in the linkage??
