How much would a Valve Body run me?

Default How much would a Valve Body run me?

Im looking on to getting a 95 cherokee. has 205k on it and 4wd. He said it needs a valve body for the tranny. How much would it cost and how much work will i be in for?

Valve bodies typically don't go bad, they might get plugged but a good cleaning will cure that.
Just remember to document EVERYTHING with pictures so you can get all the little ***** and valves back in the correct place.

Here the thing im worried i will buy this cherokee for around $2250 and have to put more money into it. i live in ohio and im going down to florida and hope to bring back a cherokee but i have to drive it back. don't want any problems.

most likely it needs the tranny rebuilt/replaced.

It may be cheaper to find a used transmission and swapping it. It may be something really small wrong and the seller doesn't know what he's doing.

which could be fine for the right price.

but, not when you driving it home from across the country like the op is.

Also i talked to the guy and he said he drives it everyday he just has to shift from 1st to 2nd to drive. could that mean anything?

my dads going to talk to some people. he sells tools so he talk to all the mechanics. hope it works out cause i like the looks of it. the milage scares me tho. i feel like 205k is a hell of a lot.

it could be solenoids (stuck or not working), bad valve body...
