How long till Computer resets?

Changed my bank one o2 sensor, drove around a bit cel is still on. Does it take a while or do i need to reset it myself? Its a 97 4.0

Did you disconnect the battery for a few mins? I thought that should do the trick but not sure

No i didnt want to, it will reset the computer and it will go off but i dont want it to come back on, i was hoping it would go off by itself but it hasnt. If its not off when i get home from work tomorrow im gunna end up reseting it and hope it stays off.

Can't you reset the codes with the obd tool?

Yea or disconnecting the battery, i had my exhaust fixed so the cel came on i reset the computer thinking it was a fluk and it went off, two days later it came back on for the sensor. I was seeing if they go off auto or u have to reset it manually after u fix it.

It should go off in about 50miles or so if that was the problem.

It doesn't take long. My CEL was on when my speed sensor went out. The shop replaced the sensor, but didn't reset the computer. Like 413maxwedge said, it took about 50 miles.
