Default How to Identify Your Transfer Case

Transfer Case


The ID plate for all New Process and New Venture transfer cases is a circular tag attached to the rear of the case. The ID plate provides model, assembly and serial numbers along with low range ratio. The serial number is also the build date (for example, 8-10-89 = August 10, 1989).

whats the difference in a 231J and a 231C? I have a post already but I like to shotgun stuff sometimes.

231j is the jeep version and the 231c is the chevy version

old post, i know. but what if your ID plate is worn down? any other way to ID the TC?
